What is sustainability?

For humans to live sustainably, the Earth's resources must be used at a rate at which they can be replenished. There are many ways to incorporate sustainability into the landscape. Some examples. Not planting something that gets to big in a small area, eventually leading to tear out. Not planting something that is drought tolerant in a wet area, or vice versa. Using water conserving designs and materials. Using renewable, local resources when possible.

What is xeriscaping?

Xeriscaping refers to landscaping and gardening in ways that reduce or eliminate the need for supplemental irrigation. Plants whose natural requirements are appropriate to the local climate are emphasized, and care is taken to avoid losing water to evaporation and run-off.
